not quit medicine because of obama care? just to establish that. >> well, you know, it is funny how some of my classmates -- i graduated way back in the 1970s. they say to me, how did you know to get out of medicine 30 years ago? the answer is i had no idea it was going to go downhill as badly as it is. i had no idea the pressures on doctors, how much more they have to work, how many more patients they have to see, how their payments have been reduced, how their autonomy has been attacked. i had no idea, of course, of how badly it would become under obama care where all of those trends are really accentuated. even though medicine say wonderfully noble life, i felt outside the walls of the hospital there was history going on, az know you know as your involvement in politics. you want to be involved in that because so much, so much of other people's lives depend on getting it right. >> this book in many ways, i think, introduced people to who you are. they see you on special report. they know what you think. they know what you believe. they read your column. the personal side of charles kr

't care how many times or how hard ted cruz can hug barack obama, i don't think he could win the majority of the latino vote, the majority of the women vote, a fourth of the black vote in a blue state like new jersey. i want to win elections. that requires fielding candidates that can win. fielding candidates that fit the population needs, priorities of the places where they are running. a winning republican candidate with whom i agree part of the time is a hell of a lot better than a losing republican candidate with whom i agree all of the time. and because this is new hampshire, i want to make an aside here. kelly ayotte is a winning republican candidate. and she's an even better senator. she is thoughtful, she is courageous, she has brains, she has heart, she has guts. she worries about priorities in new hampshire, not republican primaries in new hampshire. and as ted cruz and the senate conservatives found out recently, do not tread on kelly ayotte. she bites back. if you ask me today what the biggest problem the party faces, i would say there are many issues. but the most harmful is

where barack obama john kerry the mainstream media. i mean whatever some group of rebels protesters frightening freedom fighters fight for democracy are we supposed to arm them like in syria and or bomb their country back into the stone age like and libya served in iraq. some protest explode across the mainstream media with calls for intervention and others are almost totally silent when i lived in bulgaria where there have also been struggling to buildings less than a month ago. and with the conspiracy theorist but the selective coverage and slick of concern for some humans rights the rights of others. what smells a bit fishy to me. but that's just my thing. i rmb he knew you you will the rules are too high. she's not a genie. the issue could be. i don't know which one i teach students work on it from the local branch. we are and employment training you change the channel can be agreed to lead the pack. a recipient of the idp case no educational curriculum project only moved. i agree to school graduate especially low income families. the country's growing industry it's ok to cheat

2009 when president obama took office, and not only has the trajectory been consistently in the right note when if you will we first began positive job creation in the wake of the great recession, it was right around when the affordable care act past. this is obviously not a direct correlation. but we are moving the right direction. the information i cited in the beginning about the positive effects of the affordable care act for reduce in growth in health-care costs combined with the steady job creation we have seen for so many months reinforces a number of things. continuing to focus on those trends, making them move in the right direction, and increasing job growth even further. with that, i will take questions. >> on the president's travels to africa for the nelson mandela services, could you give us specific details of what the timing might be? there is a memorial service close to the funeral. and will the president invite former u.s. presidents to accompany him? >> thank you for those questions. i should have noted that for those of you that did not hear the president speak in t

obama just made clear, a military option if that were necessary. so, there shouldn't be an ounce of doubt. this is a debate we shouldn't be having. the real question is what is going to happen with the final agreement. the united states stands squarely behind our israeli friends and allies in the region and in the world. the result of all these steps we are taking is that iran's breakout time, the period required to produce enough weapons grade material intended for nuclear weapons, will have been increased because of our diplomacy. we are obviously well aware that even a comprehensive agreement would not solve all of our problems with iran. we don't pretend that they do. it wouldn't address their support for hezbollah. it won't deal with syria, although it would have some impact, ultimately. it doesn't deal with other terrorist organizations or their attempt to destabilize our partners throughout the region. whatever the outcome of the upcoming negotiations, iran will still have much work to do. but i am convinced that we have taken a strong first step that has made the world an

bodies in the capital city. >>> president obama urged the congress to extend the federal unemployment benefits. caring for the long term unemployed is one challenge and so is finding jobs for the young workers. their unemployment rate is in the mid teens and even higher than that among young minorities. for more about all of this, we are joininged by victoria stillwell. there was a recession in the '70s and a stock market crash in 1987 and jobs were scarce. what makes this so different for young americans compared to those times? >> the great recession was unprecedented. it exacerbated trends. we have been seeing unemployment for people aged 26 16 to 24 hig. but that spread has widened out. in the last recovery the pred between unemployment for young people and for everyone else was about 5 to 6 percentage points and now it is 7 percentage points. we have an unemployment rate that is double the national average. that's a problem. >> one of the things that is interesting about this. we are not talking about low income starter jobs. these are people getting ready to start their careers
